Pilots fall in the end to Wiley

SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots lost a tough game to the Wiley Wildcats 99-97 on Saturday afternoon at The Dock in Red River Athletic Conference play. The visitors had four in double figures while the Pilots had five.
Rodney Milum quietly led the Pilots in scoring with 22 points as he made only three field goals, one three-pointer, but was 15 of 16 from the charity stripe. Isaac Reid netted 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Rydell Harris and Mark Politte had 17. Aaron Jones had 10 points.
Karlos Gary had the game-high of 25 points for the Wildcats while Vanderis Christie had 18 points, Erik Hunter 16 and Anthony Jackson 12.
The Pilots missed a three-pointer to win it at the buzzer as the team inbounded the basketball with 4.3 seconds to play in the game. Had the Pilots tied the game and got to overtime Wiley was in serious foul trouble with two players fouling out and two with four fouls and one with three.
LSUS (7-3, 3-2 RRAC) powered their way to start the second half after a 20-6 run to jump out to a seven-point lead erasing the five-point deficit at the half. During the first four minutes of the second half the Pilots were a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, all coming from under the basket, and was four-of-four from the free-throw line. The Pilots did not miss a shot in the second half after five minutes of pin-point accuracy as LSUS dominated points in the paint overall 52-38.
Wiley (9-4, 4-2 RRAC) launched plenty of three's in the first half sinking nine of 18 attempts from beyond the arc but was only three of 10 from downtown in the second half of play. Each team turned the ball over 13 times with Wiley getting the edge 15-13 in points off turnovers.
The next game for the Pilots will be on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. against Huston-Tillotson at The Dock.
