Pilots fall in season opener to UT Dallas

August 24, 2012

DALLAS, Tex. - The outcome of the LSU Shreveport's men's soccer team was not as pleasant as the weather was on Thursday evening at the UT Dallas Soccer Complex as the Pilots were on the short end of a 1-0 game.

LSUS (0-1) had more chances in the second half than they did the first but were unable to convert any chances to goals as the clock expired. The UT Dallas Comets appeared to add their final goal of the game with 10 seconds to play as the Pilots defense was thin with an extra forward in the game in hopes of creating a scoring chance when the Comets scored but was called offsides.

UTD (0-0) got on the board when their forward edged his way through the Pilots defense and finished for the first goal of the contest during the 31st minute of the contest. UTD also edged the Pilots in the first half in total shots 5-4.

The Pilots will defend the Mayor's Cup on Monday in their next contest as they battle the Centenary Gents. The result of the game will count for the Pilots but will not count for Centenary with it being an exhibition game.
