Pilots Fall in Region XIII Championship
May 10, 2008
Cleveland, Tenn. - The LSUS baseball season ended in heartbreak on Saturday afternoon, as the Lee University Flames knocked off the Pilots, 10-7, for the Region XIII championship.
The Pilots loaded the bases with one out in the ninth inning, but they were only able to score one run as the Flames held on for the title.
LSUS took a 6-1 lead after scoring five runs in the third on a grand slam home run by Jeff Ledet and a solo shot by Bryan Stebbings. However, the Pilots were unable to hold off an explosive Lee offense, as the Flames scored seven runs over the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take the lead and control of the contest.
With the win, Lee advances to face Embry Riddle University in the Super Regional next week in Daytona Beach, Florida.
LSUS finishes the 2008 season with an overall record of 47-16 (.746) and the highest single-season winning percentage in school history.
