October 06, 2012
FORT WORTH, Tex. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots men's soccer team suffered their second straight Red River Athletic Conference loss on Saturday night at Martin Field as the Texas Wesleyan Rams came away with 4-1 win.
LSUS (7-4-1, 3-2-1 RRAC) drops down to sixth place in the conference standings as their lone goal of the contest came 32 minutes to play in the contest as Rodrigo Pontes converted on penalty kick that was awarded to the Pilots when defender Nate Gurinsky was fouled in the box to set up the PK.
TWU (6-3-2, 4-1-1 RRAC) moves into a tie for third spot in the standings with Huston-Tillotson as they took an early lead scoring just four minutes into the contest. The Rams added to their slim lead with a pair of goals during the first 10 minutes of the second half.
The tough road trip is finally over for the Pilots as they surrendered nine goals to their opponents while they had given up only eight goals in their previous 10 games.
The next game for the Pilots will be at The Swamp on Thursday, October 11th, at 1 p.m. versus the Texas College Steers. This will be an opportunity for the Pilots to get back on the winning ways as the Steers bring an overall record of 1-11 to the game and a winless 0-6 mark in the RRAC.
