Pilots drop close game to SAGU

SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots men's soccer team lost a heart-breaker to the visiting SAGU Lions 2-1 at The Swamp on Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference play.LSUS (1-6, 0-2 RRAC) got a goal during the 20th minute from Joseph Eades who cleaned up a rebound given by the SAGU keeper to put the Pilots in front 1-0.
SAGU (3-4-2, 1-1 RRAC) rebounded quickly with the game-tying goal during the 28th minute of the contest as Alex Vazquez connected with Danny Martinez for a 1-1 tie at the half.
Seven minutes into the second half SAGU scored the game-winner from Vazquez to give the Lions their first RRAC win of the season. Despite the score the Pilots managed to outshoot the Lions 18-16 with 13 of those shots coming in the second half. SAGU got the advantage on corner kicks 7-5 but five of those were in the first half.
The next game for the Pilots will be on Thursday, September 29th, as they welcome the Wiley Wildcats at 3 p.m.
