Pilots downed by Science and Arts

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots men's basketball team first win of the season did not come on Saturday at the W.P. Wood Fieldhouse as they lost their second straight to the University of Science and Arts Drovers by a final score of 68-62.LSUS (0-2) shot a slim 21% from the field in the first half to trail at the break by 10, 32-22. USAO (1-1) rebounded from their loss of Friday to the SAGU Lions as they made four of 16 three's attempted in the first half.
The Pilots shot the ball better from the field in the second half at 43% (13-30) and outscored the Drovers in the second half 40-36 but it was not enough nailed three more three-pointers in the second half to minimize the damage to hold on for their first win of the year.
LSUS struggled again from the free-throw line making only 25 of 40 against a team that fouled them in the game a total of 29 times as they had two players foul out. The Pilots were 13 of 21 from the charity stripe in the second half.
LSUS' Derrick Parker led all scorers once again with 22 points and collected his first double-double of the season with 21 rebounds. Isiah Bazille (19) and Greg Shyne (15) were the only two other Pilots to finish in double figures. Shyne was the second in the game for rebounding for the Pilots with six.
The Drovers had three players to finish in double figures: Brandon Cutler (20), Graham Faulkner (12), and Kyle Hunt (10). Cutler also led the team in rebounds with eight.
The Pilots look to rebound next weekend as they travel to Jackson, Mississippi, to take on William Carey University (11-11-11 at 4 p.m.) and Belhaven University (11-12-11 at 8 p.m.) in the Belhaven Invitational.
