Pilots defeat Bacone

SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots men's basketball team picked up their second straight win in the Red River Athletic Conference play 88-68 over the Bacone College Warriors on Monday night at The Dock. Both teams had three scorers finish in double figures.
LSUS (5-2, 2-1 RRAC) opened the game fast and furious with a 22-4 run and took the lead for good two minutes into the game when Rodney Milum came away with his only steal of the game and laid it in as LSUS led 4-2. Milum, on an off night, added 20 points just behind the Pilots' leading scorer Mark Politte who tossed in a season-high 22-points with the aid of four made three pointers.
Milum, the NAIA's leading scorer, also knocked down four from beyond the arc still averaging over 28 points per game. The Pilots struggled at times offensively turning the ball over 16 times but only allowed 13 points off of those miscues. LSUS however forced Bacone to turn the ball over 14 times netted 21 points off the turnovers assisting the Pilots to shoot 53-percent on the night.
Isaac Reid was dominating again underneath for the Pilots tossing in 19 points and pulling down seven rebounds in just 22 minutes of action as he was called with a few early fouls that kept him on the bench more than he liked.
The Pilots cleaned the glass 42-31 over the Warriors but had just one pull down more than nine, Rydell Harris had 10 and added eight points. Reid and Politte each pulled down seven rebounds apiece while Milum had five.
In addition leading the team in scoring, Politte also led the floor with six assists and three steals.
Bacone (2-7, 0-3 RRAC) had the game's leading scorer in Christian Smith who dominated with 23 points while Alex Stanley had 11 and Sean Cooper 10, both off the bench. The Warriors shot just 37-percent against the speedy Pilot defense.
The next game for the Pilots will be at The Dock on Friday night against the Centenary Gents at 7:30 p.m.
