Pilots crush Crusaders, 102-76

Hattiesburg, MS- William Carey College men’s basketball team fell to #16 LSU-Shreveport, 102-76 Saturday night in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. 

LSUS (18-6, 9-1) jumped on the Crusaders (7-16, 3-6) early building a quick 14 point lead at 21-7 with 15:07 to play in the first half.
 
The Crusaders refused to go away and trimmed the Pilot lead to one, 43-42 with 1:22 to play. A 6-2 Pilot run to close the half gave LSUS a 49-44 lead at the break. 
 
 
The Pilots picked up where they left off at the close of the first half and stretched their lead to 59-44 with 17:04 play.
 
The Crusaders would trim the Pilot lead to 11 with 7:55 to play, but could get no closer as the Pilots pulled away, 102-76.
 
Four Crusaders scored in double figures led by Renaldo Dorsey with 24 points. Anthony Barnes added 16 points. Jeremy Irby chipped in with 13 points, while J.R. Willis added 11 points.
 
Fredericko Payne poured in 38 points, going 10 for 22 from downtown to lead the Pilots. Derrick Rogers added 24 points.
