Pilots cruise past Bacone for eight straight win

MUSKOGEE, Okla. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots dominated the Bacone Warrior Saturday afternoon with a 79-64 victory to pick up their eighth straight win. The Pilots are one of the hottest teams in the Red River Athletic Conference being winners in 13 of their last 14 contests.

LSUS (16-6, 14-3 RRAC) remains in second place in the conference race a game and half behind Our Lady of the Lake. The Pilots blazed the nets for 53% from the field while Greg Shyne made eight of 11 from the field as he led the visitors in scoring with 21 points going eight of 11 from the field while Derrick Parker turned in his 16th double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rydell Harris drained five of seven from the field and had a dozen points making five of seven from the field while Mark Politte finished with 11 points.

The Pilots attacked the three-point line making eight of 15 for 53% from beyond the arc as Shyne led the way with a perfect four for four performance while Politte helped out making three of four from downtown.

LSUS out dueled the home team on the boards collecting 40 rebounds while Bacone snagged 27. Harris pulled down nine behind Parker's game-high of 10.

La'Charleston Tumblin had the game-high 22 points while James Scott represented the only other double figure scorer for Bacone with 11 points.

Bacone (3-18, 2-14 RRAC) now losers of four straight, trail Jarvis by five games for the 8th spot in the standings which is the last team that will qualify for the RRAC Tournament.

The next game for the Pilots will be Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Langston University. The Pilots picked up a 74-67 win over the Lions earlier in the season at The Dock.
