April 13, 2004
The LSUS Pilots played host to the Northwood University Knights Tuesday afternoon and found themselves down 4-0 in the first inning of game one after making two crucial errors to allow the Knights rally to continue off of Pilot starter Sam Alphonse. Alphonse (6-3) suffered the loss as the Pilots went on to lose game one 9-2.
The Knights out hit the Pilots 14-9 while only committing one error in the game. Tyler Ford led the Knights with a 4-5 performance. Chase Cox was 2-4 and drove in the only 2 Pilot runs.
In game two the Pilots managed to turn it around and pulled off a 2-0 win to manage a split on the day. Gene Stevens (4-3) picked up the win while pitching two shut out innings. Cody Willis picked up his 4th save of the year. Jordy Bias and Bryan Cooksey were each 1-3 with an RBI to lead the Pilots offence.
LSUS will now prepare for their biggest conference series of the year this weekend when they will play host to the first place William Carey College Knights. Game one is scheduled for Friday night at 6:30pm. Games two and three will be played Saturday beginning at 1:00pm after the Pilots pay tribute to their senior class of 2004.
