Pilots comeback falls short against William Carey

JACKSON, Miss. - The no. 6 LSU Shreveport Pilots men's basketball team rally came up short on Saturday night in a 69-65 loss to the William Carey Crusaders at Belhaven University's Rugg Arena.LSUS (1-3) shot 30% from the floor in the first half that led to a 42-26 deficit at halftime. WCU (1-3) shot 48% while making six out of 11 attempts from downtown.
The Crusaders had four scorers reach double figures while the Pilots had just two. WCU's Brandon Givens led all scorers with 22 points while Roderick Little had 15. Donzedrick Smith pitched in 11 points off the bench while starter Jaron Edwards had 10.
LSUS' Greg Shyne led the team for the second game in a row in scoring with 16 points while Derrick Parker had 14. Parker led the squad with eight boards.
The Pilots shot 56% from the floor in the second half nailing 13 of 23 attempts to outscore the Crusaders 39-27 in the second half but it was too little too late. LSUS was six of 18 from downtown and 15 of 18 from the free-throw line.
The Crusaders were 42% from the field in the second half to finish at 46% for the game from the field. They drained 10 out of 19 attempts from downtown and were 13 of 20 from the charity stripe.
The next game for the Pilots will be next Saturday, November 19th, at the new tip off time of 2:00 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
