Pilots claim first RRAC win

SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots soccer team got their first Red River Athletic Conference win of the 2011 season on Thursday afternoon at The Swamp with a 2-0 win over the Wiley College Wildcats.

The Pilots (2-6, 1-2 RRAC) pounded 17 shots in the first half but only scoring one goal as Joey Morvant netted his first goal of the season to give LSUS the lead during the 25th minute.

Wiley College (0-3, 0-3 RRAC), a first year program, only managed two shots in the first half of play to give the Pilots a one goal lead at the break.

LSUS added another goal in the second half during the 68th minute as freshman Luke Nicholls scored his first goal of his collegiate career to give his team a two-goal cushion that they would never relinquish.

The Pilots outshot the Wildcats 32-8 with 10 shots on goal while Wiley only had one on goal.

The next game for the Pilots will be on Saturday afternoon at The Swamp against the University of St. Thomas at 3 p.m.
