Pilots Blast Badgers 10-4

April 08, 2005

Shreveport, LA– It was Pilots all the way on Friday night against the Springhill Badgers as LSUS’ offense exploded for a 10-4 win. The Pilots, now 28-10 overall and 15-4 in conference play, had an excellent offensive showing as well as good pitching efforts to keep them in first place in their conference.

Frank Kowatz took the mound for LSUS and pitched seven strong innings for his team by allowing only two runs in that time frame. In those seven innings, his team produced 10 runs to secure his win.

The biggest offensive inning came for the Pilots in the second when center fielder Dusty Maddox blasted a grand slam to add four runs to the home team’s already 1-0 lead. Maddox drove home Patrick Thompson, who arrived on a double; and Brian Cooksey and Brent Lavallee, who both reached base on walks.

LSUS’ Adam Cox pitched the eighth inning and Jeremy Chabot pitched the ninth to hold off the Badgers (13-27, 4-17) from rallying.

For the Pilots, Dustin Bissonnette went 3-4 with two doubles, one single and an RBI; Chris Frye went 3-4 with three singles; Kyle Mace went 2-4 with two singles; Cooksey went 1-1 with an RBI; and Lavallee went 1-3 with an RBI single.

LSUS will take on Springhill again on Saturday with a double header beginning at 1 p.m.
