Pilots Basketball ready for voyage
September 11, 2012
SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Men's Basketball Team will have a completely different look in 2012-13, as the Pilots must replace all five starters from last year's team, including two-time All-American Derrick Parker and the most-winning coach in the State of Louisiana over the past decade, Chad McDowell. Former player and assistant coach Kyle Blankenship returns to "The Dock" to take over the reins from McDowell, and will look to continue to build on the tradition and past success of the program.
LSUS returns eight letter winners from last season, but only three of which saw significant action over the second half of the season. Seniors Rydell Harris (4.8 PPG, 4.5 RPG) and Jake Greene (4.7 PPG) join junior Mark Politte (8.0 PPG) as the players who will provide the new coach with some quality experience.
The Pilots 2012-13 recruiting class features eight newcomers, including three NCAA Division 1 transfers and the two-time Louisiana Junior College Player of the Year. Rodney Milum headlines the list of transfers, as the senior from Houston, Texas averaged nearly ten points per game last season at Appalachian State University. Seniors Isaac Reid (Gannon University) and Aaron Jones (Southern Nazarene University) will look to make an immediate impact for the Pilots. Tydrick King, the junior transfer from Southern University - Shreveport and reigning Louisiana JUCO POY, will give LSUS a big presence inside while a Louisiana Tech transfer, Tevin Hall, brings some valuable experience with him to Shreveport.
