Pilots Avenge Early Season Loss with 89-74 win over Jarvis Christian

Chad McDowell and his Pilots took the floor looking for revenge of an early season 103-84 loss versus Jarvis Christian College Monday night. As soon as the Pilots gained possession of the ball, they put all memories of the past away, and buried the Jarvis Christian College Bulldogs 89-74.The LSUS Pilots started the game with an offensive attack that put the Bulldogs down 30-12. LSUS finished the half with a 48-35 lead. Derrick Rogers and Rico Payne each poured in 16 points while building the 13 point half time deficit.
In the second half, LSUS continued to dominate with their home court advantage. The Bulldogs could only manage to creep within 9 points, the smallest point margin since early in the first half. The Pilots offense was led by junior guard, Justin Collins who finished with 11 assists, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Fredericko Payne ended the game with 24 points, followed by Derrick Rogers with 20. Derrick Sowell and Travis Cash rounded the well balanced Pilot attack with 31 combined points.
LSUS has now improved their record to 6-4 on the season, 2-0 at home, and are in action at LSUS this Friday to begin their Gulf Coast Athletic Conference schedule. They will be hosting Xavier College; tip-off begins at 7:00 pm.
