Pearson earns RRAC Player of the Week

WACO, Texas - Kyle Pearson of LSU Shreveport and Anthony Seabolt of Bacone College (Okla.) were named RRAC Baseball Co-Players of the Week for April 16-22, while Teddy Nowell of Northwood University earned RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors for the same dates.

Pearson, a junior leftfielder and first baseman from Stonewall, La., scored nine runs and drove in eight in a 5-0 week for the top-ranked Pilots. He opened up by going 3-for-5 with two doubles, two walks and three RBIs in a double-header sweep of William Carey College (Miss.). Pearson continued strong with three two-hit games in a series sweep of Texas Wesleyan University. He accounted for four RBIs in the first two games and scored twice in the finale. For the week, Pearson was 9-of-15 at the plate as LSUS wrapped up conference play at 22-4. The Pilots are 42-4 on the season.

Seabolt, a junior leftfielder from Tulsa, Okla., connected for 10 hits and 10 RBIs in a 2-4 week for the Warriors. He had a pair of hits in a loss to Oklahoma City University and drove in a run as Bacone lost the first of a three-game set with Huston-Tillotson University (Okla.), 5-4. He exploded in the second game to go 5-for-5 and hit for the cycle with two doubles, a walk and six RBIs as the Warriors won, 13-2. Bacone clinched the series as Seabolt scored twice and drove in three for a 14-1 win. For the week, he was 10-of-23 (.435) with five extra-base hits. The Warriors are 14-10 in conference play and 25-20 overall.

Nowell, a senior pitcher from Mesquite, Texas, tossed a two-hitter in his only start of the week to blank the University of Houston-Victoria, 5-0. He struck out seven and walked three in seven innings of work. The Knights are 11-9-1 in the RRAC and 24-19-1 on the season.

Matt Lackie of LSUS was also nominated for pitcher of the week.
