Payne earns back-to-back player of the week honors

Basketball Players of the Week - Week Ending January 9, 2005

HATTIESBURG, Miss – The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference today announced the players of the week for the week of January 3-9, 2005.

Fredericko Payne of LSUS was selected as the men's player of the week for the second week in a row. Payne averaged 31 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.3 steals in helping lead the Pilots to GCAC victories over Belhaven and SUNO as well as a 109-100 loss to Texas Wesleyan. Payne broke the LSUS 3 point record with 12 three point field goals made in one game. Fredericko is a 5-10 junior guard from Dubach, Louisiana.

The Pilots (13-5, 4-0) will travel to Jackson, MS Thursday night to take on Tougaloo College (5-6, 1-2) in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action. The will return home to the Dock Saturday night when they will play host to the 16th ranked University of Mobile Rams (14-3, 3-0). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
