Parker Earns Share of RRAC POW Honors

WACO, Tex. - Derrick Parker of LSU Shreveport and Travis Lampley of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) earned recognition as the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for Dec. 12-18.Parker, a senior forward from Minden, La., poured in 39 points to guide the Pilots to a pair of RRAC victories last week. He notched 23 points and 13 rebounds to defeat Bacone College (Okla.), 104-69, before delivering another double-double with 16 points and 10 boards to outlast Langston University (Okla.), 74-67. Parker made 15-of-27 field goal attempts and 9-of-11 free throw attempts in the two games. LSUS is 3-2 in conference play and 5-5 on the season.
Lampley, a junior guard from Houston, recorded a triple-double during a 2-0 week for the Celts. He scored 11 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 14 assists in an 85-69 conference victory over Bacone College (Okla.). He also accounted for 14 points and five assists in a 79-58 win over NAIA #7 Texas Wesleyan University. Lampley made 6-of-10 shots from the field and 13-of-21 from the free throw line for the week. UST is now 4-0 in the RRAC and 6-4 overall.
Ladarren Williams of Texas College and Ricardo Zanini of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) were additional nominees.
