Shreveport, LA-The LSUS men’s soccer team (4-6-1) defeated the Faulkner University Eagles (4-9) by a final score of 3-1 at the Swamp, on the campus of LSUS, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pilots got on the board first and took a 1-0 lead at the half thanks to Zach Kelly’s (5th) goal at the 10th minute of the contest.
The second half brought some intense play from both teams as the Pilots managed to sustain the lead. Team Captain, Theron Lockett, scored his first goal of the season at the 48th minute after the cross pass from Zach Kelly, which allowed him to record his 4th assist of the season.
Faulkner answered with a goal at the 72nd minute from Tyler Umstead with Igor Popovich on the assist. This goal trimmed the Pilots lead to 2-1 with 20 minutes to play.
LSUS delivered the knock out goal as William Awagu passed to Steven Bush who found the back of the net with his 3rd goal of the season at the 88th minute to give the Pilots a 3-1 lead and eventually the win. Awagu recorded his 3rd assist of the season on the play.
The next game for LSUS will be on Saturday, October 31st, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi against the William Carey Crusaders at 1 p.m.
