Musgraves named ABCA Regional Coach of the Year

SHREVEPORT, La. - LSU Shreveport's Rocke Musgraves was named the South's Region Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Diamond Sports Company.Musgraves led the Pilots to a 47-15 overall record and an impressive 26-4 record in Red River Athletic Conference play claiming the 2nd regular season championship in school history.
The Pilots continued their dominating success in post season play as they captured their 5th Conference Tournament title as they clinched the number 1 seed in the Montgomery Opening Round Bracket. Musgraves team made a statement as they set a national record for post season play with 32 runs in the championship game as they defeated AUM 32-7 to punch their ticket to Lewiston, Idaho, for the Avista-NAIA World Series.
LSUS came away with a 4th place finish at the World Series in just their second appearance as they finished 3rd back in 2003.
Musgraves completed his 12th season and currently has an overall record of 490-252 at LSUS. He has led the Pilots to two regular season titles, five tournament championships, two World Series appearances.
He will be honored at the ABCA Annual Convention in Anaheim, California, in January of 2012.
Musgraves also collected RRAC Coach of the Year and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year for the 2011 season.
