Monette's double-double leads Lady Pilots to 61-57 win over Lady Saders

The LSUS Lady Pilots played host to the William Carey Lady Saders Saturday night looking for their second Gulf Coast Athletic Conference win of the year. The Lady Pilots were off to a hot start as they shot 11 of 22 in the first half and built a 32-27 by the break. Kendera Monette led all scorers in the half with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Dyamond Hogg had 7 points at the break for the Lady Pilots. Kayla Cooley finished with 7 points leading the Lady Saders.With 5 lead changes in the last three minutes of play, it was some clutch free-throw shooting by the Lady Pilots that put the game out of reach. Renalda Stafford drained both of her free-throw attempts with 25 seconds remaining to build the Lady Pilots lead to 4 points and enough to end the Saders hopes of a comeback
Kendera Monette finished the night shooting 6 of 8 from the field and ended with a game high 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Pilots. Teammate Dyamond Hogg finished with 14 points, 3 steals and 3 assists. For the Lady Saders, Evans finished with 14 followed by Levy with 13.
The Lady Pilots now sit at 2-7 in the GCAC standings and 6-13 on the year. The Lady Pilots are in action February 2 when they will travel to Jackson, MS to take on Tougaloo College. They return to LSUS to take on the University of Mobile Lady Rams February 7.
