Milum, Reid lead Pilots past ETBU

November 26, 2012

MARSHALL, Tex. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots men's basketball team starting five accounted for all of the Pilots 97 points helping them to ease past the East Texas Baptist University Tigers on Monday night 97-83 in the Ornelas Gym. Rodney Milum led all scorers with 35 points.

In addition to Milum, three other starters reached double figures with Isaac Reid and Rydell Harris each turned in a double-double as Reid sank 28 points and pulled down 13 boards while Harris netted 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds helping the Pilots to out rebound the Tigers 41-35.

Tonight was Reid's first double-double as a Pilot while Harris has accomplished it in all four of the Pilots' games so far this season. Milum, the NAIA's leading scorer coming into tonight's game at 30.3 ppg, nailed a total of eight three's in the game, five in the first half, leading the Pilots to an impressive 55-percent shooting on the night from the field. He will likely hold on to the top-scorer's crown as tonight's 35 points boosts him to 31.5 ppg in the Pilot's first four games of the season.

The Pilots (3-1) had a 13-point halftime lead and built on it in the second half shooting 53-percent.

ETBU (2-2) had a tough time getting off any good shots at the bucket as the Pilots' defense held the Tigers to just 39-percent from the field. The Tigers made just three of 12 from downtown in the second half helping the Pilots maintain the lead.

The home squad put four shooters in double digits themselves with Junior Mitchell leading the Tigers with 17 points while Jaron Joseph had 15, Kerry McClahan 13 and Chris Collins with 11.

The next game for the Pilots will be on Thursday as they meet Texas College in Tyler, Texas, as both schools open Red River Athletic Conference play.
