Men's Basketball Signs Transfer Guard
May 19, 2008
Shreveport, La. – LSUS Head Coach Chad McDowell announced today the addition of Aubin Young to the 2008-09 recruiting class. Young will be immediately eligible for the 2008-09 season after transferring from Northwestern State University.
Young played in two games as a true freshman at NSU, following a stellar high school career at Pineview High School where he averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds as a senior. Young earned All-District honors in all four years of high school, while being named to the All-State in each of his final three seasons.
“We are extremely excited about having Aubin join our program here at LSUS,” commented McDowell. “With the loss of just under 80% of our scoring in conference games last year, we expect Aubin to make an immediate impact putting points on the board. He is a versatile player who can and is willing to play inside or out, and because of his length and athleticism, he can guard bigger players. Not only are we adding to our program a quality basketball player, but we are also getting a quality young many who will be a great representative for our LSUS community."
The 6’4 guard will help continue to add NCAA Division I talent to a LSUS roster that already boasts three NCAA transfers, including Tyrone Hamilton who signed with the Pilots last month.
"Aubin comes from an outstanding program at Northwestern State and has played the last two seasons under a coach who I admire, respect and consider a very good friend," added McDowell. "Coach McConathy has sent us several players over the last five seasons, and every one of them has been a key component in the success of our program. We are confident that Aubin will be no different, and that he will be a huge asset in our program for the next three seasons.”
Young sat out the 2007-08 season as a red-shirt and will have three years of eligibility remaining at LSUS.
