Men's Basketball: Pilots run wild on Southwest

SHREVEPORT, La. - The no. 20 LSU Shreveport Pilots had no problems with the University of Southwest Mustangs taking down the visitors by a final score of 117-73 in Red River Athletic Conference play at The Dock. The high thriving offense for the Pilots produced six scorers in double figures with Rodney Milum leading all scorers with 33 points.
LSUS (19-5, 14-4 RRAC) knocked down 52-percent from the field with Breion Beaver leading all bench scorers with 16 points as did Tevin Hall. Starters Brandon Davis and Mark Politte each netted 11 points. Jake Greene poured in 10 points off the bench as the LSUS bench outscored Southwest's 76-25.
The Pilot's defense forced 16 turnovers and capitalized with 26 points off the Southwest miscues. LSUS won the rebounding battle 55-49 but did not have any players with double figures as Politte led the way with nine rebounds and every player had at least three.
Southwest (4-22, 1-19 RRAC) had just two scorers in double digits with Jonathan Williams leading the box score with 26 points but he received two technical fouls which led to his ejection with 11 minutes to play in the contest. Curtis Thompson Jr., was the only other double figure scorer with 15 points.
The Mustangs shot a slim 34-percent against the stout Pilot defense and was just six of 35 attempts from downtown.
The next game for the Pilots will be on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. against Texas Wesleyan.
