November 10, 2012
WEATHERFORD, Okla. - For the second consecutive game the Pilots came up on the short end of things, this time at the hands of West Texas A&M 54-40 on Saturday afternoon in exhibition action. The loss does not blemish the Pilots 1-0 regular season mark, they will put that on the line this coming Tuesday as they take on Paul Quinn College in Dallas.
West Texas (2-0) a well-known NCAA Division II squad made their presence felt to the Pilots on Saturday afternoon forcing 12 LSUS turnovers into 15 points while the Pilots defense was only to force six takeaways and were unable to put any points on the board after the steals.
The Pilots for the second game in a row was led by Rodney Milum who led all scorers with 17 points thanks to four three's in 30 minutes of action. Isaac Reid again led the Pilots in rebounding collecting a total of 10, eight on the defensive side.
WTAMU dominated 26-10 points in the paint and capitalized on nine offensive rebounds with 10 put-back points. Their bench also outscored the Pilots 11-3. Despite all the stats favoring WTXAMU the Pilots managed to tie the game a couple of times and even stretched their lead to as much as five in the first half but in the end it was the Buffs who pulled away in the end finishing the contest with three shooters in double figures.
The Pilots have one more exhibition game tomorrow against NCAA DI, Tulsa at 7 p.m.
