Men's Basketball: Milum named RRAC Player of the Week

December 18, 2012

WACO, Tex. - For the fourth time in the last five weeks Rodney Milum of LSU Shreveport received Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the dates of Dec. 10-16. This keeps the streak alive with LSUS having a POW each week in the RRAC. Juan Ortiz of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) was selected as co-POW with Milum.

Milum, a senior guard from Houston, posted an average of 28.5 points per game as the Pilots split a pair of contests last week. In a 92-64 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), he reached 35 points with four rebounds then added 22 points in a 99-97 loss to Wiley College (Texas). For the week, Milum connected on 12-of-34 shots from the field and 28-of-32 from the free throw line as LSUS advanced to 3-2 in the RRAC and 7-3 overall.

Ortiz, a senior guard from San Antonio, Texas, established a new school record with nine three-pointers in a 104-90 triumph over Jarvis Christian College (Texas) in the Saints only game of the week. His record came on 11 attempts from behind the three-point arc en route to a career-high 27 points. OLLU improved to 5-1 in conference play and 6-5 on the season in the process.

Karlos Gary of Wiley, Dallas Jones of Texas Wesleyan University, Bryan Kaase of the University of St. Thomas (Texas), Clarence Rivas of the University of the Southwest (N.M.), and Jamal Robertson of Texas College were additional nominees.
