Men's Basketball: Davis claims RRAC POW after season debut

Brandon Davis of LSU Shreveport claimed the Red River Athletic Conference, Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) and the National Associtaion of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for the dates of Dec. 31-Jan. 6. This is the eighth award of the season in the RRAC and first in the NAIA.

Davis, a junior forward from Pomona, Calif., accounted for 31 points and 20 points in his first game with the Pilots. He made 12-of-21 shots from the field including a trio of three-pointers as LSUS defeated Huston-Tillotson University (Texas), 115-85. The Pilots are now 4-2 in conference play and 8-3 on the season.

Vanderis Christie of Wiley College (Texas), Oscar Griffin of Texas Wesleyan University, Robert Martinez of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), and Jamal Robertson of Texas College were additional nominees.
