WACO, Tex. - The Red River Athletic Conference coaches voted LSU Shreveport's Brandon Davis as the conference's Newcomer of the Year. Rodney Milum, Mark Politte, and Rydell Harris joined Davis among the players selected to this year's Red River Athletic Conference All-Conference Teams.
Davis, a junior guard from Pomona, California, made a huge impact on the Pilots success after the Christmas break as he played in 17 of the 22 RRAC games for the Pilots as he poured in 21.5 points per game and grabbed 11.9 points per game. Davis drained double figures in every game that he played including 14 double-double performances in the regular season and had the only triple-double of the season in the RRAC. Davis was named the RRAC Player of the Week five out of the seven weeks that he played including being named the NAIA National Player of the Week on two different occasions. Davis led the RRAC in rebounding and was the conference's second leading scorer behind his teammate Milum.
Milum, a senior guard from Houston, Texas, was the only other Pilot named to the First Team as he led the Pilots in scoring in RRAC play averaging 22.7 points per game, leading the RRAC, shooting 35% from downtown draining a total of 90 from beyond the arc.
Politte, a junior guard from Houston, Texas, was selected to the Second Team as he led all shooters in the Red River Athletic Conference making 53-percent from the field. He started 19 of the Pilot's 22 RRAC games averaging 13.2 points per game and 6 rebounds a game. He led the Pilots with 98 assists in RRAC play as he averaged 4.4 assists per game which was 4th best in the conference.
Harris, a senior forward from Monroe, Louisiana, was selected to the Honorable Mention Team, as he averaged 9.6 points per game and pulled down 8 rebounds per game. He was 5th in the conference in rebounds per game.
"I am very happy for all of our players that were named to the all-conference team. It is a direct reflection of their hard work and the success our team has had this season. Each one of them is most deserving, and I am grateful for the opportunity to coach some very talented players here at LSUS," said LSUS Head Coach Kyle Blankenship.
