LSUS WOMEN'S SOCCER SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF SEASON

The University of Texas-Tyler Lady Patriots (1-1) handed the LSUS Lady Pilots (2-1-1) their first loss of the 2009 season by the score of 2-0 on Sunday night at Citizens First Bank Soccer Complex in Tyler.
The first period of play saw a total of 10 shots between the two teams, 8 by UTT and 2 by LSUS. Analiz Medina led UTT with two shots in the first half and Kimberly Phelps had the only shot for LSUS until Brooke Martin had the best scoring opportunity for the Lady Pilots in the first half but was stopped by the UTT keeper, Morgan Dux.
UT-Tyler took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Kendall Kramer that was assisted by Analiz Medina at the 24th minute of the first half. The Lady Pilots only had two shots but both were on goal.
The second period provided a lot of scoring opportunities for UTT as they had a total of 19 shots in the second half. The second goal of the game was scored at the 81st minute of the contest as UTT’s Lauren Thomas scored to put the Lady Patriots on top 2-0 with the assist going to Analiz Medina, her second assist of the game.
LSUS only had a total of 7 shots during the game with 5 of them coming in the second half of play. Jessica McDonald had the most shots for the Lady Pilots with two, one of them on goal.
There were a total of 17 fouls in the game, 9 by LSUS and 8 by UTT.
In goal for the Lady Pilots was freshman, Torie Calhoun, who had a total of 11 saves in her hometown.
The next game for the LSUS Lady Pilots will be on Friday, at the Swamp, on the campus of LSUS against Texas College at 3 p.m.
