LSUS WOMEN'S SOCCER SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS TO SPRING HILL

Jackson, MS-The LSUS women’s soccer team (7-6-1) season ended on Tuesday afternoon, in Jackson, MS, as the Spring Hill Lady Badgers (8-8-1) defeated them by a final score of 1-0.
The first half saw the momentum shift towards Spring Hill as they outshot the Lady Pilots 9-0 during the first period. Thanks to great defense and some stellar saves by keeper, Torie Calhoun, the Lady Pilots were able to keep a scoreless tie heading into the break.
Spring Hill again outshot LSUS in the second half as well, 11-3. The lone goal of the game came at the 85th minute as the Lady Badger’s Sara Uptmor, assisted by Katie Pendergast, gave SH a 1-0 lead which would prove to be the game winner.
Despite being outshot 20-3, the Lady Pilots allowed only 7 shots on goal to Spring Hill. Torie Calhoun made some magnificent saves to total 6 by the game’s end. LSUS’ offense only mustard 3 total shots and only two on goal.
Head Coach Jed Jones, “We just did not give ourselves enough chances. I thought we played well defensively but today it just was not good enough. I am proud of our ladies, I think they had a fine season, we did not finish where we would have liked to but they did some great things this year.”
The Lady Pilots will finish the 2009 season with a record of 7 wins, 6 loses and 1 tie. The longest winning streak of the season was three games. The Lady Pilots also won two consecutive games two different times.
