LSUS to host 2006 GCAC Tournament, May 2-6

Shreveport, LA---Pilot fans witnessed the men’s basketball team capture the 2005-2006 GCAC Tournament Championship, and now they will have a chance to see LSUS make yet another run at a GCAC Tournament crown; this time it will be on the baseball field. LSUS has been selected to host the 2006 GCAC Conference Tournament which will begin Wednesday, May 3, and conclude Saturday, May 6, with all games being played at Pilot Field.
The six teams from the GCAC; Belhaven College; LSUS; Loyola University: Spring Hill College; University of Mobile; and William Carey College will travel to Shreveport to battle their way through the double-elimination tournament. The winner will be crowned as GCAC Tournament Champions, and receive an automatic birth to the Region XIII Tournament which will be held in Montgomery, AL May, 10-14.
The match-ups have yet to be determined as three teams remain in contention for the regular season title with three games remaining. BC (17-10) currently holds a one game advantage over the Pilots (16-11), and a two game lead over UM (15-12).
LSUS will host the GCAC Tournament banquet Tuesday, May 2 in the Louisiana Ballroom which will begin at 6:30pm. Player’s and coaches will be presented their tournament packages, which will be followed with the presentation of the 2006 GCAC All-Conference awards.
