LSUS suffers 3-1 loss to Louisiana College

April 06, 2004

The LSUS Pilots (26-16) traveled to Alexandria to take on the Louisiana College Wildcats (17-14) for a Tuesday matinee game at Bringhurst Field. The game was sponsored by the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Program) Program and allowed each fifth grader in Rapides Parish to attend the game. Over 2300 5th graders in attendance saw their Wildcats defeat the Pilots for the second time this year by a score of 3-1.

LSUS managed to out hit the Wildcats nine to six but only managed to scratch a single run which came in the top of the sixth inning when Chris Frye doubled off the left field wall to score Thomas McMannis who drew a two out walk. LC scored two runs in the fourth on three hits, highlighted by Dustyn Parker's RBI single. LC would add another run in the top of the seventh when Dustyn Parker would double off the center field wall with two outs which was followed by a Ryan Reeves a single on a two strike pitch to score Parker.

Gene Stevens (3-3) fell victim to a lack of run support and collected his third loss of the season despite only allowing 3 runs on 6 hits in his 6 innings of work.

The Wildcats improved their record to 17-14 while the Pilots fall to 26-16 on the year. LSUS will be in action again tomorrow afternoon when they will take on LeTourneau University at 2:00pm in Marshall, TX.
