Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Pilots continue to solidify their 2006-2007 roster with Division I talent as they announce the signing of Blake Whittle, a 6-foot-6 senior guard from Baton Rouge, LA.
Whittle was an All-State, All-District, and All-Metro selection his senior year at Parkview Baptist High School where he averaged 28 points, 8.2 rebounds, and two assists per game.
His 220lb frame along with his athleticism led him to the Lamar University Cardinals where as a freshman he played in all 29 games which included 11 starts. A season high 20 points against Sam Houston State University highlighted his 7.4 points per game average along 3.6 rebounds per game.
As a sophomore, Whittle appeared in 24 games while starting just one contest and averaged 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest, but responded with a career high 8.1 points per game average while picking up 3.3 rebounds in 30 games which included 13 starts his junior season.
“Blake is a strong kid who can shoot the ball from any where on the floor. His athleticism gives us options on the offensive end, while his strength and size will be a big presence on the defensive end,” commented LSUS Pilots Head Coach Chad McDowell.
Whittle decided to forgo his senior year at Lamar to become a Pilot, and is very excited about the opportunity to be part of one of what has quickly become an NAIA powerhouse in just three years of competition.
“The program here at LSUS is doing great things. Coach has put together a great group of guys and I am very excited to be part of what I expect to be a very strong team this upcoming season,” commented Whittle.
