November 19, 2009
Shreveport, LA-Head Coach Rocke Musgraves has announced the signing of right-handed-pitcher Kade Overton for the 2010-2011 season. Over the past two seasons Overton has compiled a 16-1 record for DeQuincy High School.
During his sophomore season, he was named to the First Team All-District as a utility player. His junior year brought him more recognition and more awards including; First Team All-District, First Team All-Southwest, First Team All-State, voted on by the sports writers, and First Team All-State, which was voted on by the coaches. This list of accomplishments was based on the success of the golden right arm as a pitcher.
Last season he was named as Co-MVP in District 4-AA, as he also showed some promise at the plate with a .389 average, 28 runs batted in, and 12 stolen bases. Overton lifted DeQuincy to their first district title in 7 years.
Overton has pitched for the Louisiana Legends for the past two summer and fall leagues. The Legends are a select baseball team with some of the top players in Louisiana.
“We are excited about adding Kade to our program. He is an amazing athlete and will win a lot of games for us,’ said Head Coach Rocke Musgraves.
