LSUS SHUTOUT AGAINST #7 WILLIAM CAREY, 6-0

Shreveport, LA-The LSUS women’s soccer team (7-5-1, 1-3) were defeated by the #7 William Carey University Lady Crusader’s (13-1-1, 2-0) 6-0 in the final GCAC regular season match on Saturday afternoon at the Swamp.
The Lady Crusaders wasted no time getting on the board with a goal at the 4th minute from Jeana Erickson (15th). Erickson then scored another unassisted goal, her 17th of the season, 5 minutes later to open the William Carey lead to 2-0.
The Lady Crusaders continued to put pressure on the LSUS defense as Natalia Nino passed to Aimi Beresford as she scored her 7th goal of the season to give WC a 3-0 advantage at the 18th minute.
William Carey added one more goal at the 21st minute as Jeana Erickson passed to Shayna Turner who scored her 3rd goal of the season to extend the Carey lead to 4-0 by the half.
WC started the second half where they left off as Aimi Beresford scored her second goal of the game and 8th of the season, with Gemma Metcalfe getting her 3rd assist of the season at the 53rd minute.
The final goal of the game was scored at the 83rd minute by Courtney Brinson (3rd of the season) as Giselle Bryce-Cotes was credited with her first assist of the season.
The next game for LSUS will be on Tuesday, October 27th, as the Lady Pilots will wrap up the regular season schedule on the road against Lyon College (7-1-2) in Batesville, Arkansas. The kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
