LSUS Places Four Players on Preseason All-GCAC Team

January 23, 2009

Hattiesburg, Miss. - The No. 15 LSUS Pilots baseball team placed four players on the Preseason All-GCAC Team, with catcher Andrew Brouillette headlining the squad as the GCAC Preseason Player of the Year.

Brouillette is joined on the team by first baseman Craig Barnes, outfielder Quinton Shamsabady and starting pitcher Gino Spratley.

The Pilots open up the 2009 season on Friday with a double-header versus the No. 9 Mobile Rams.  The Rams are coming off a record-setting season, winning 43 games and claiming the 2008 GCAC Championship

The two teams combined to place 11 players on the Preseason All-GCAC team, and the Rams' lineup boasts the reigning GCAC Player of the Year Jared Baria.

LSUS is the preseason favorite to win the GCAC as voted on by the coaches and sports information directors, holding the top spot in the 2009 GCAC Preseason poll with seven first-place votes to the Rams five.

All LSUS games can be heard live over the internet via Teamline and play-by-play announcer Mark Cantrell.
