LSUS Men's Soccer's Carrillo Receives Degree

December 18, 2011
SHREVEPORT, La. - Marcos Carrillo earned his degree from LSU Shreveport on Sunday afternoon after two seasons with the men's soccer team. A total of seven LSUS athletes were recognized at the fall commencement services at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City on Sunday afternoon.

Carrillo, of Murchison, Texas, received his Bachelors of Science from LSUS after playing for the inaugural men's soccer team in 2009 and their second season in 2010 after transferring from Lon Morris College. He scored eight goals, including two game-winning goals in 2010, in the two seasons for the Pilots which currently ties him a top of the career scoring leaders list for most goals scored. Carrillo took a total of 41 shots and 23 shots on goal.

Carrillo is one of three players that hold the single game record for most goals in a game with two. He accomplished that feat in 5-4 loss to the University of Mobile as he helped lead the Pilots a near comeback after trailing trailed 5-0 at halftime.

"We are extremely proud of Marcos and his accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. His hard work and dedication will take him far in life and we are honored to call him a LSUS Pilot," said LSUS Head Coach Mike Aguilar.
