LSUS MEN'S SOCCER TOPS LC AT THE SWAMP

Shreveport, LA-The LSUS men’s soccer team (3-3-1) defeated the Louisiana College Wildcats (0-11) on Saturday afternoon, at the Swamp, by a final score of 3-0.
The Pilots got the on the board at the 21st minute as Marcos Carrillo scored his second goal of the season to put LSUS on top, 1-0.
Chance Naderi scored his first goal of the season at the 44th minute as Zach Kelly was credited with his first assist of the season as well. This was the first game back for Naderi as he had been sidelined with an injury that occurred at the end of the ETBU game on September 7th.
LSUS had a 2-0 lead at the half and dominated the half with three times as many shots as LC 15-5.
The Pilots scored five minutes into the second half as Brian Penner banged the rebound home to score his first goal of the season and extend the LSUS lead to 3-0.
The LSUS defense settled down the attack from LC, only allowing them to take just 2 shots in the second half. LC had 5 shots in the first half. LC took a total of 7 shots and only 5 of them were on goal in which LSUS keeper, Rogerio Celaya stopped them all to earn the shutout and the third win of the season for the Pilots.
The LSUS offense took as many chances as they could and had a total of 34 shots compared to Louisiana College’s 7.
The next game for LSUS will be on Tuesday, October 6th, as they will play their first conference game against the Spring Hill Badgers in Mobile, Alabama. The kick of is set for 5:30 p.m. Spring Hill will also being playing in their first conference game as well. This year they have compiled an 0-8 record.
