LSUS Men's Hoops picked to finish 4th in RRAC

WACO, Tex. - Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), the 2011-12 Red River Athletic Conference men's basketball champion, is the top pick in the 2012-13 RRAC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll. With seven first-place votes, OLLU is #1 followed by Texas Wesleyan University and Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). Following are the results from voting conducted by the RRAC's coaches with points awarded through a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
The LSUS men's basketball program is known for winning conference titles as well as the post season trophy a few times. Since its' reinstatement in 2003, the men have won four regular season conference titles and seven straight conference tournaments. The success in the regular season and bracket play has propelled the Pilots to eight straight appearances at the Buffalo Funds-NAIA National Tournament.
The Pilots begin their 2012-2013 campaign with Belhaven University on November 6th in Jackson, Mississippi. Then Pilots play three exhibition games on the road and one that counts before opening their home schedule at The Dock on November 20th at 7 p.m. against Belhaven. LSUS opens RRAC play on November 29th at Texas College.
While faced with the challenge of replacing all five starters from a year ago, the new leader of the Pilots Kyle Blankenship is ready for the challenge of keeping the program on top. "We are excited about the upcoming season and are looking forward to starting practice next week. We still have a lot of work to do and a long way to go in order to compete at a high level but we are looking forward to the journey that lies ahead."
