March 27, 2012

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Postseason Top 25 Poll was released yesterday and the Pilots finished as the #7 ranked team in the country.  The Postseason poll takes into consideration the overall season including the performances at the National Tournament.

LSU Shreveport won their 7th consecutive conference tournament championship and qualified for their 8th consecutive national tournament.  The Pilots went 2 - 1 in Kansas City advancing to the elite eight.  They were defeated in the quarterfinals by eventual national champion Concordia University. Their play during the NAIA National Tournament was strong enough for the NAIA Coaches to move the Pilots up from their regular season final ranking of 12th to the #7 spot.

"We are pleased with a final rating of 7th and are proud of the season we had," commented Coach Chad McDowell.  "We had six seniors that provided great leadership all season long and they didn't disappoint in Kansas City.  This is a great group of guys and we are very proud of them and for them."  Coach McDowell is referring to the Pilots six seniors on the 2011 - 2012 roster which includes Isiah Bazile, Jacoby Marshall, Derrick Parker, Greg Shyne, Cody Walker, and Aubin Young.
