LSUS Men's Basketball Adds Former Fair Park Standout to 2009-10 Roster

April 01, 2009

Shreveport, La. - The LSUS Men’s Basketball Team has added former Fair Park High School standout Markcus Jackson to the 2009 – 2010 basketball roster.

Jackson played the last two seasons at Bossier Parish Community College, where he averaged 14 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists per game.  As a freshman at BPCC, Jackson was selected as the All-Louisiana Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.  He continued his exceptional play into his sophomore season as one of the leading scorers for the Cavaliers shooting at a 48% mark and leading the team in rebounds.  His nine rebounds a game gave Jackson a ranking as the 5th leading rebounder in Region 14.

“We are thrilled that Markcus has decided to come to LSUS and be a Pilot for his last two years of college,” said Coach McDowell. “He is a nice size wing with a great upside, and we look for him to continue to develop into a really good player.”

Jackson grew up in Shreveport and attended Fair Park High School under the direction of Coach Ronald Preston.  Jackson was selected to the All-District team during his junior and senior seasons and was named Shreveport/Bossier All-City Player of the Year his senior year. During his time at Fair Park, Jackson helped the Indians win a state championship in 2006. In his last two seasons, he averaged 15 points and seven rebounds a game..
