LSUS Men's Basketball Accepted Easter Seals Friend Request

September 14, 2011
The LSU Shreveport Men's Basketball Team volunteered to work Easter Seals Louisiana Inaugural Golf Tournament.  This fundraiser for Easter Seals Louisiana was held on September 2, 2011 at Olde Oaks Golf Club.  The fundraising event was very successful and a lot of fun.  Members of the LSU Shreveport Men's Basketball Team contributed to this successful fundraiser through their volunteer work.  The players helped in any way possible including serving in the food tents, supervising hole-in-one par 3's, and traveling throughout the course serving participants water and snacks.

Easter Seals Louisiana was appreciative of the LSU Shreveport Men's Basketball team service and wrote them a thank you letter addressed "Dear Friend of Easter Seals."  Easter Seals provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work, and play in their communities.  "The word is out about how great our fundraiser was and we want to say thank you for helping" says Bernadette Bitting, Director of Development for the non-profit organization.

Jake Greene, a junior guard for the Pilots, was in attendance for the fundraiser and day of serving.  "Any time you have an opportunity to serve others and give back to the community, you should take advantage of it," commented Greene.  "It's a special honor in my opinion to give to an organization that serves those who are less fortunate and helps people with disabilities. I hope we continue having opportunities to serve."
