LSUS' Martin named RRAC co-Player of the Week

WACO, Tex. - Stephanie Diaz of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) and Brooke Martin of LSU Shreveport were recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Co-Players of the Week for Oct. 10-16, while OLLU's Hailey Olden claimed the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates.

Diaz, a freshman defender from Katy, Texas, delivered four goals and an assist in a 3-0 week for the Lady Saints. She scored each of OLLU's goals in a 3-0 win over the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) in addition to notching a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). She also helped OLLU hold Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) scoreless on defense for a 1-0 win. The Lady Saints are tied for the conference lead at 6-0 with an 11-4 mark on the season.

Martin, a junior forward from San Antonio, Texas, scored five goals in a pair of conference matches this week. She registered a hat trick with three of the Lady Pilots' goals in a 6-1 defeat of Texas College, and she accounted for both of LSUS' goals in a 2-2 tie at Bacone College (Okla.). The Lady Pilots are 3-1-2 in the RRAC and 6-4-2 overall.

Olden, a senior center back from Kerrville, Texas, played an integral role in the Saints defense that held all three of their opponents' scoreless. OLLU outscored the opposition, 8-0, while keeping its perfect conference record intact.

Verena Wonsikowski of the University of Texas-Brownsville was an additional offensive nominee. UTB's Monica Mendes was nominated for this week's defensive award.
