“We are excited about Josh coming to play for the Pilots,” LSUS coach Chad McDowell said.  “We have been fortunate in the past two years to have some high-caliber players in our program and with Josh transferring to LSUS, he will be no exception.  He is a super basketball player and even better young man.”

Porter will be reunited with McDowell, his high school coach.  Porter played four seasons for McDowell at Southwood and was and All-City Selection.  “Coach McDowell is a special coach and I love the style of play that he coaches,” Porter said.  “I’m excited about our team next year and think we will have a great season.”

Porter started 21 of 27 games at Stephen F. Austin last sesason as a sophomore.  He averaged 28.6 minutes per game.  He was the Lumberjacks second-leading scorer last season at 11.3 points per game.  He was sixth in the Southland Conference in 3-point shooting at 39.8 percent.
