LSUS LADY PILOTS AND UTB TIE

The LSUS Lady Pilots (2-0-1) hosted the University of Texas-Brownsville (0-0-1) on Friday afternoon at The Swamp on the campus of LSUS which ended in a 0-0 tie.
The game was scoreless after the first half. UTB had a total of 7 shots and only 2 of which were on goal. The Lady Pilots took a total of 6 shots in the first half and three of them were on goal. The best scoring change LSUS had in the first half was following a corner kick from Brooke Martin, freshman Tarah Arrington’s shot hit the crossbar twice but the Lady Pilots were unable to score.
The second half of play looked much like the first half with both teams playing great defense and neither keeper allowed a goal. UTB took a total of sixteen shots, six on goal. LSUS had a total of 12 shots, 6 of which were on goal.
LSUS freshman keeper, Torie Calhoun, face UTB’s Samatha Thorman in a one on one situation and made a great save to keep the game at 0-0. Calhoun had a total of 4 saves in the game.
There were a total of 18 fouls called in the game, 8 by UTB and 10 by LSUS. UTB’s Verena Wonsikowski was handed a red card at the 77th minute.
The next game for the Lady Pilots will be Sunday, September 6, at the University of Texas-Tyler (0-1) at 6 p.m. UT-Tyler lost their first game of the season 2-1 against Oklahoma Christian.
