LSUS Drops a Pair in Tuesday's Doubleheader Versus Houston Baptist University

Houston, Texas - The LSUS Pilots lost their first two games of the season on Tuesday afternoon, falling 11-6 in game one and 8-7 in game two of the doubleheader with Houston Baptist University.
HBU's Richard Orange hit two homers and drove in five runs to lead HBU to an 11-6 win in the first of two with LSUS on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies jumped out to a four-run lead on the Pilots in the first, highlighted by a three-run jack from Orange.
The Huskies starting pitcher Ryan Majewski went six innings for the win in his first collegiate start. He allowed six hits and six runs while walking three and fanning six.
Justin Ennis (0-1) went 5 2/3 innings for the Pilots, while giving up all 11 HBU runs.
Jeffrey Garidel led the Pilots at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run and 3 RBIs.
In game two, LSUS put the tying and go ahead runs on base in the seventh and final inning, but the Pilots stranded both runners and fell by a score of 8-7.
HBU and LSUS traded two-spots in the first and third frames before the Pilots put up single runs in the fourth and fifth to take the lead. The Huskies trailed 6-4 heading to the bottom of the fifth, but scored three in that frame, taking advantage of three walks and getting a big two-run single by Ryan Majewski to capture the lead for good.
Making his first collegiate start, freshman Gino Spratley gave the Pilots four solid innings on the mound, giving up just two earned runs in a no decision.
Colby Lehman (0-1) took the loss for the Pilots, allowing three runs in just 2/3 inning pitched.
Andrew Brouillette finished game two with three hits, including a home run and a game-high 3 RBIs. Garidel added two hits for the Pilots, while Jacob Watkins belted his first home run of the season in the loss.
LSUS (5-2, 5-0) will be back in action on Friday night, as they begin a three-game series with Belhaven College at Pilots Field. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
