LSUS, BROUILLETTE AND ENNIS NAMED NAIA PRESEASON ALL-AMERICANS

November 09, 2009

Kansas City, MO- LSUS’ juniors, Andrew Brouillette and Justin Ennis, were named to the 2010 NAIA Baseball All-America Team which was announced on Friday afternoon. The LSUS Pilots look forward to the 2010 season and will have these preseason All Americans to make a run for another championship season.

Andrew Brouillette, a junior from Benton, Louisiana, had a banner year in 2009 leading the Pilots in numerous offensive categories with a .455 batting average, 209 at bats, 95 hits, 21 doubles, 21 homeruns, 100 RBI, 187 total bases, .895 slugging percentage and a .565 on base percentage.

Brouillette now holds the single season records at LSUS for batting average, homeruns, RBI, total bases, slugging percentage and on base percentage. He also set new Gulf Coast Athletic Conference records last year in RBI and slugging percentage. Brouillette now holds three LSUS career records for doubles, homeruns and RBI. His 100 RBI total from last season was not only good enough to break the school’s and conference’s record; he now holds the NAIA record for runs batted in in a single season.

Brouillette currently has a career batting average of .433, which passes Kevin Ross who finished with a career batting average of .382.

“With a player like Brou, you never have to question if he is giving you his all, he gives us all he has whether it’s at practice, a game or just working on his swing own his own,” said Head Coach, Rocke Musgraves.

Justin Ennis, a junior from Livingston, Texas, was the go to guy on the mound last season for the Pilots as he lead the team in ERA with a 3.11, appearances with 18, 15 games started, an impressive 6 complete games, 107 innings pitched and 78 strikeouts.

Ennis’ top outings of 2009 included a complete game performance in a win against Belhaven College where he pitched 9 innings, allowed just three hits, 2 runs (1 earned), 1 walk and nine strikeouts. He would strikeout nine batters again against Spring Hill College just allowing two earned runs in eight innings pitched.

Ennis took the mound against the then ranked top 10, Bellevue University (Neb.) and led the Pilots to a win as he pitched a complete game allowing no walks while striking out 5 Bruin batters.

“Justin has been a key aspect to our program since the first day he got here. We knew he was going to be something special by the way he handles himself on and off the field. He is another guy that always gives us his all,” stated Pitching Coach, Chris Bertrand.

The 2010 LSUS Pilots will open their season on the road in Mobile, Alabama, against the Spring Hill Badgers on January 29th, with the first pitch at 6 p.m.
