LSUS Adds Women's Tennis and Men's Soccer
March 30, 2009
Shreveport, La. – LSUS Director of Athletics Doug Robinson has announced that the university will add women’s tennis and men’s soccer for the 2009-10 academic year, as the Athletics Council recently approved the addition of the two sports.
“We are extremely excited about adding women’s tennis and men’s soccer to our athletics lineup," said Robinson. “We've been successful in all of our current sports and there's no reason we can't compete for championships in the sports we're adding.”
The men’s soccer team will begin competition in the fall of 2009, and they will be coached by current LSUS women’s soccer coach Jed Jones. The school will hold open tryouts on April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the LSUS soccer field.
Women’s tennis is expected to hit the hard court in for the first time in the spring of 2010. The athletics department is actively recruiting women’s tennis players to fill out the roster, while a search for the tennis head coach is ongoing.
LSUS currently sponsors four sports in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball and women’s soccer.
