LSU-Shreveport sweeps Loyola in double header

Westwego, La. –  LSU-Shreveport swept Loyola in a GCAC double header on Saturday afternoon at Segnette Field. In the first game, Dustin Bissonnette was 3 for 4 as the Pilots downed the Wolfpack 5-1.  Kevin Jewell (1-0) got the complete game victory.  He went seven innings and gave up one run on five hits and struck out 10 Loyola hitters.

For Loyola, James Blakeman (0-2) got the loss.  He threw 5.2 innings, giving up five runs, one earned on eight hits and struck out one.  David Lauricella led at the plate for the Wolfpack.  He was 3 for 4 and drove in the only Loyola run.

In the second game, the Pilots belted out 11 hits in route to an 11-1 victory.  Dusty Maddox, Jeff Ledet, Brandon Magierowski and Bissonnette each had two hits.  Matt Clayman (3-0) got the victory, giving up only three hits in five innings of work.

For Loyola, Bobby Alvarez (1-1) was tagged with the loss.  He threw four innings and gave up six runs on six hits and struck out three. 

The series concludes with a single game on Sunday at Segnette Field.  First pitch is for 2 p.m.
