Lady Tigers outscore Lady Pilots 84-78

Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Lady Pilots (3-2) played host to the East Texas Baptist University Lady Tigers (2-0) Tuesday night at The Dock. The two teams raced to a 43-41 half time score in favor of the Lady Pilots, however LSUS could not keep up the pace as ETBU went on to win by a final score of 84-78.

The Lady Pilots offense was clicking on all cylinders throughout the first half as they finished shooting 50% (15-of-30) as they raced to a 43-41 lead at the break. Kacie Cryer led the Lady Pilots with 11-points while teammate Jessica Kelly added nine.

Marzett Shepard finished with a team high 11-points for the Lady Tigers who shot a combined 55% (16-of-29) from the field.

ETBU jumped out to a 49-43 lead after an 8-0 run in the first 2:20 of the second half, and stretched their lead to as many as 12-points after a Mary Slaughter field goal had the Lady Tigers ahead 66-54 with 8:14 remaining.

LSUS responded with a 12-4 run to cut the Lady Tigers lead to 70-66 with 5:46 remaining, but that would be as close as they would come as ETBU went on to win by a final score of 84-78.

Sade Stewart finished with a game high 21-points and seven rebounds while Slaughter finished with 20-points and seven rebounds. Shepard ended with 15-points and a game high eight assists, while Samantha Dickens rounded off the ETBU offense with 10-points.

The Lady Tigers offense exploded for 84-points after shooting 53% (31-of-59) from the floor, the highest of any opponent against the Lady Pilots this season.

The LSUS offense could not keep up their first half scoring pace connecting on just 39% (13-of-33) attempts from the field, including just 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 8-of-13 from the free throw line.

Lady Pilots leading scorer finished with a season high 19-points while Cryer added 13-points. Janai Sells finished with 14-points and six rebounds off the bench.
